Mariental Piggery

Mariental Piggery is situated 1,2km South of Mariental on the B1 in Namibia.

It is a Farrow to Finish unit with an average Sow herd of 1 230 and an average of 14 800 pigs on the farm. This farm was acquired in 2009 and is managed by Pius Shikongo.

Mariental produce 550 pigs per week which are all sold in the local market. All pigs are fed with a wet feeding system from Denmark and all the feed is produced on site. As with Haloli, Mariental import all the raw materials from SA and Zambia.

Mariental do all of their artificial insemination (AI) with semen produced on site in their AI station. They produce their own AI boars and replacement gilts and are thus not dependant on genetic imports. They also produce gilts and boars for Haloli piggery and the rest of Namibia
